I am working on a Mac. I just want to change some text in a header for the second half of a book. The header on the first half stays the same.

I am doing a book. The first half of the book has the exact same header that I need for the second half with the exception of a text change. Is there an easy way just to change the text without much bother? I am new to Libre Office so headers and footers are a challenge to me. I am using a Mac

I suppose your problem is related to Writer. Please, retag your question to erase common and replace it with writer.

Header and footer are properties of page styles.

When you start a document, by default all pages are controlled by Default Style page style, which means you can have only a single header and a single footer all over the part formatted by Default Style.

Having a different header means you must define a second page style (eventually using one of the built-ins).

To tell writer you change page style, Insert>More Breaks>Manual Break (don’t use the usual Insert>Page Break or Ctrl+Enter because it only breaks in the current page style). You can then choose in the Style menu to which page style you’ll break.

For information about styles, read at least the built-in help or better the Header and footer are properties of page styles.
