Find& Replace remove bold

I use 6.4.6 on 32 Windows. I use spreadsheet.
When I use find& replace function, if I replace one word with another, if in the sell there is any word selected by bold, this operation removes bold. Example: sentence in the sell - “hello my name is Jon” with bold word “name” if I using find& replace change Jon for Kollin , than result will be “hello my name is Kollin” without bold word “name”
So maybe there is somewhere in the settings it is possible to change it? Because when I tried it on Microsoft office the result was the same.

Hello Devamitta,

a spreadsheet program is not a word processor. The focus here is clearly on calculations and tables. Formatting of text is not particularly important here. If you format a complete cell, things look different again. Here, the formatting would be retained even after search and replace. If you format only a part of the cell, it would not. It doesn’t matter if you replace the name John or for example the “Hello” with “Hi”. The formatting of the whole cell is lost.
Even if you reference the cell with your sentence, you will not find any formatting in the cell that accesses your content.

In Writer this is not a problem. In this case, the formatting would be retained when searching and replacing.

I’m sorry I can’t give you a better answer.

Best Regards

Juergen

I would always want to have the label (hello my name is) and the data/variable (Jon) in separate cells.
