how do i set shortcut key for font color

I want to use a key shortcut to change the color of the font in the selected area. I tried assigning F3 and Ctrl-C to “font color” using the customize menu. But when pressing Ctrl-C with a selected area, the color did not change.

What do you expect - the Font tab of the Format Cells-dialog to appear or to set the font color to a specific color?

I have a color selected on the bar that contains ‘font’, ‘size’ ‘Bold’ … ‘A underscored with green’ I have selected a word in cell. I would like to press Ctrl-C and have the color of the word change to green.

When I assigned Ctrl-C to font color in the key shortcuts menu “NOTHING” happened when I press Ctrl-C back in the text. Then I went back and verified that Ctrl-C was still assigned to font color in the key shortcuts menu.

I’m sure the help menu specifically advises against trying to re assign OS system key combinations. Ctrl+C is assigned to Copy

right, I’ve changed it to ctrl-F

Have you thought of using, instead of manual formatting:

  • Value Highlighting (Text is black,
    Formulas are green, numbers are
blue). Page 67 of Calc Guide
    6.4
  • Conditional Formatting so if a number is above or below or equal to a value, it changes colour, or if it complies with a formula set in conditional formatting dialog. Page 68 of Calc guide above

Cheers, Al

I’m making a table of GNU utility command options with text like ‘status=level’ and ‘iflag=flag[,flag]*’ where mean enclosed text is green and for red. Neither of the automatic coloring schemes would apply. green is variable text, red is metacharacters
