Is there a way to make LibreOffice my DEFAULT app?

I came across LibreOffice just in time after Apple screwed everyone over with their iWork '09 update for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. Seems like it will work much better! But is there a way to set LibreOffice as my DEFAULT app to open my .doc, .xls, .ppt files without having to manually select Open With every time? Ultimately, I’ll like to be able to double click on a file and have LibreOffice open it without getting pulled into Pages, Numbers, or Keynote, respectively.

What is your operating system name and version? This is actually an operating system problem. You have to set it at operating system level.
