Why does LibreOffice 4.1.3.2 installer say: "The following applications are using files that need to be updated by this setup"? Seems unnecessary!

Very surprised that LibreOffice, an office / document editing program needs to update low level files also used by USB 3.0 hardware monitor, mobile hotspot, password manager etc. !

Why does it need to update such files?!

Don’t know the exact answer, but general rule of thumb is to close as much of the programs as possible before installing any new software. It looks to me that some Java files are opened that are used by MANY programs and so installer is “afraid” it will not be able to install LibreOffice correctly, so puts an warning.

I suggest to close all programs you can and click on Retry button. If this does not help, restart operating system and try again.
