I want Calc and Writer to start in different folders in My Documents–how can I do this?
Do you mean when using the "Open File … " Dialog, where the dialogs first location is opened?
I my case it is always the last location i opened a file.
Not sure if you can pin the location where it will open.
If not, that might be a nice feature to add to the LO settings.
By the way, please always include OS and LO Version as tags or in the description. Thanks.

Apparently not, at least for LO 6.4 and LO 7.0 as in Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Path, there is only one setting available for My Documents
I tried to test, in LO 6.4 and LO 7.0, the feature announced in the LO 6.4 documentation, about Templates which says :
Any settings that can be added to or modified in a document can be saved within a template. For
example:
• General behaviors set from Tools > Options, such as paths and colors.
However I did not succeed, as after changing the settings in Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Path for My Documents, while setting the template, after saving this template and closing it, this change keeps impacting all new documents created afterwards on the default template.
