Im at a loss as to what to do. There are some very important files in the new folders
I created two new folders to save my files to

And to add to @anon73440385’s remarks, you incorrectly tagged your question. Please retag to remove common (which means you experienced the issue in Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw and Math) and replace libre-writer with writer which is the official mandatory tag for Writer-related problems.

I try a resolution process, even if there is a lot of question marks.
Did you have a look at the list of the recent documents through File>Recents documents ?
If you see your lost files, open them. Then look at the place where they are stored by having a look at File>Save as : in the dialogue box that will show up, you will be able to see the access path of the concerned file. Take a good note of this path, where maybe the other lost files are stored too and correct it the way you want…
