Macro doesn't record

When I try to record a macro, I get the window that says “Record Macro” but nothing happens. I’ve check the Advanced Options window to make sure “Enable macros” is checked.

a little more info about your system and situation could be helpful,
normally there appears a little! box / dialog window with ‘stop recording’ - which is easy to ‘overlook’ because very small - and after doing the work you want recorded and then clicking that button a dialog opens where to save the macro …

Did you notice the information given at LibreOffice Help - Limitations of the macro recorder?

I get the little dialog window but when I press the stop recording button, nothing happens. Apparently nothing is recorded.

See I did see the limitations information. I’m not trying do do anything listed. It doesn’t even record simple cursor movements.

…and what are you trying to record? You have been asked to provide a little more info about your system and situation and nobody can have a look over your shoulder to see what you see. So anybody willing to help depends on your description.

The Macro Recorder has a very limited capability (and it works in the Calc and the Writer applications only, but not work in Draw, and Impress applications).
The Macro Recorder can record most of Menu activities (not all!), but less of hotkey activities.

I suggest you: try the write your macros instead of recording them.
You must study the API functions.

‘You must study the API functions.’ - and that is hard work for a ‘user’ …

That is not a ‘hard work’. That is an “impossible mission”.

But there are helper tools to list the relevant methods and properties for a specific programming object.

I finally got it to work by uninstalling version 7.0 and reloading version 6.4. Macros work fine now.

tested recording in 7.0.0.2 … works
