I have saved my file after woking for several hours. I saved them in two locations and shut down my computer. When I reopened the files, although the time I saved was correct, the files were found to be old versions and all my current work has disappeared.I lost several hours of work (7 PM to 3 AM). Please can somebody help me recover the files?
What kind of file is it?

It was a text file, I saved it as a word 97/2003 file. I have Windows 8 in the laptop. Thanks.
