images report as wrong size

Greetings,

Lots of times, but not ALL the time, when I paste a image into LibreOffice Writer it shows is details as the wrong and impossible size (eg. -2556.5" x 12…5"). It happens with multiple images and in multiple documents. I have not been able to determine any pattern to when this happens or does not happen.

Additional information

Images almost always are larger than a typical page (8.5x11), I’m not even sure what is meant by “is the Writer image object “AutoSize”, i.e. scaling automatically happens?” so, will say that what I am looking at is position and size.

Images are either JPG or PNG. Interesting thing I just found. If I resize the image manually (drag from corner) to the size I want, then copy that to another doc, the size reports correctly…

3 words and 1 pic is 3.5MB and the site will not let me upload even though it says max file size is over 10 MB. Don’t what else to do.

Please, edit your question (don’t use an answer which is reserved for solutions) to give more information about your images:

• is their original size larger than the page (mainly the width)?
• is the Writer image object “AutoSize”, i.e. scaling automatically happens?
• image format (JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP, …)?

The best way to diagnose the issue is to attach a sample file to your question: edit it, scroll to the bottom, press Enter at least twice and use the “paperclip” tool.

If the file is too big to upload, make a copy. Delete unneeded content in the copy to make it minimal (probably only one image on one page plus a few words to make sure there is at least one non-empty paragraph. Check that the problem is still present and attach this reduced version of your file.

I’ve paired down as much as possible and it still won’t attach. still says file exceeds max upload size.
