Libreoffice not functioning in Windows 10

Hi,

Just want to report that Libreoffice 7.0.2 does not work in Windows 10.

What do I mean by that? What does ‘not work’ mean?

It means that when I type in Writer, say, nothing comes up. Moreover, I cannot access the menu, nor can I shut the program down. Only an end task from task manager will kill it. I rebooted. I disabled the antivirus. I still cannot use Libreoffice. Libreoffice is basically an inert program in Windows 10.

@Nihil,

Download LibreOffice 7.0.2
If you're a technology enthusiast, early adopter or power user, this version is for you!

(from Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft)

I am with the just released 6.4.7 version. You can download it at Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft near the bottom of the page.

Just want to report that Libreoffice 7.0.2 does not work in Windows 10.

What is the intention of this? It doesn’t apply to my LibreOffice 7.0.2.2 installation on Windows 10. If you want to report a bug, please turn to Bugzilla and file a bug report.

If you scroll further, you will see the issue extends to version 6.

@Nihil, Take a look at the guidelines at LibreOffice user profile - The Document Foundation Wiki to see if this problem can be caused by corruption in the user profile.

I have ran this program countless times across operating systems and it is perplexing as to why it is not functioning now.

Then kindly remove 7.0.2 as the top install option.

However, the exact same issue with Libreoffice 6.4.7.

?

@Nihil, Your reply don’t solve your question. So, hover on “more” (just above these lines), and press “repost as comment under question”. Thanks.

Then add a question mark.

We (the users here) are not the ones who make LibreOffice; we use it, and we try to help others who want to use it better.

If you don’t want to go to near the bottom of the download page, download the 6.4.6 version, that is just below the 7.0.2.

it has been tested for longer

Sorry, I don’t realize where the question mark is missing.

Did you previously have LibreOffice installed? Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall?

Yes, indeed. I have reinstalled and rebooted several times. Thank you.

Oh hey, good news. Apache Open Office seems to work just fine.

“since 2014, Apache OpenOffice (its current home) hasn’t had a single major release” (https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2020/10/12/open-letter-to-apache-openoffice/)

My preference is LibreOffice, but for whatever reason, it does not function. I was hoping my experience is not singular and that a flood of people would concur and that the issue would be addressed. Unfortunately, it seems that only my Windows 10 install does not like LibreOffice. But it does like OpenOffice. Because Windows is a black box, there is no way to know for sure what the culprit is.
