How to fix libreoffice writer issues on 13.05

I have problems with my LibreOffice Writer on my newly installed Ubuntu 13.05. When I type my work it does not automatically show what I am typing and takes time to reveal what I just typed, and the likes. Any suggestion to fix this issue. Thanks in advance.

I assume you mean that you type, and then eventually the letters show up on the screen after a delay – is that right?

This lies somewhere between LibO and your OS. I use LibO on both Linux Mint 13 (LTS) and current release Ubuntu with no issues at all, so it might well have something to do with your hardware, or memory configuration, or possibly a software clash.

Do have a look at an AskUbuntu Q&A on “slow LibreOffice” to see if that is any help. Otherwise, it would help to have more details about your system to help you diagnose your particular problem.

First and foremost, I want to take this opportunity to thank you David for your rapid reply to my issue. Secondly, I would like to introduce my computer-skills as those of the two main actors in ‘the internship’; in other words, I am part of the older generation, though intelligent and ‘college-graduate’, that have no clue in much of computer lingua and stuff.

To answer your question, yes when I type it is slow to appear and I have to click the ‘entry’ tab to see what I just typed. the ‘blinker’ (I hope it is the correct word) is static and seem unable to move across, below or up when using ‘arrow’ tabs, I have to use the mouse or touchpad.

I will check the link you recommended to is if my answer (in much laymanian terms) can be found there.

Merry Christmas and Wishing you a Great 2014.

Alex.
