Custom page numbering when printing a brochure

I want to print a church bulletin (brochure) where the “cover” has no page number, and the internal pages start with “1” instead of “2”. I know how to reset the page numbers by inserting a manual break and changing the page number. That breaks my brochure printing, however, because that then forces the cover page onto an entire separate piece of paper.

Is there any way to get what I want?

If you do not need a TOC or other indexes with page numbers, you can tweak the page number using an offset. Insert your page number. Then set cursor in front of the page number. Menu Edit > Fields, set offset to -1. So the page number is 2 and the page is on a left side, but it is shown as number 1.

I would not use an offset, but correct it by using a nice content for the second page. First page “cover” without number as right page; second page with a graphic, a Bible verse, a greeting, or a summary as left page. Third page with number 1 with the intended content as right page. Your brochure might need one more sheet of paper. Is that too expansive?
