Different number style level heading.

Hello! How to make different number style like this:

I. Lorem Ipsum (Heading 1 (Level 1), with Roman numerals)

1.1 Lorem Ipsum (Heading 2 (Level 2), with Arabic numerals)

1.1.1 Lorem Ipsum (Heading 3 (Level 3), with Arabic numerals)

I’ve tried before Chapter Numbering and I got like this:

I. Lorem Ipsum

I.1 Lorem Ipsum

I.1.1 Lorem Ipsum

The first number always use Roman numerals But, I want only Heading 1 use Roman numerals.

This is not possible in a simple manner.

Tools>Chapter Numbering defines a multi-level sequence counter. In this dialog you assign properties to each level.

One of these properties is the sequence category: numeric, alphabetic, bullet, … A level cannot be both alphabetic (or Roman) and numeric simultaneously.

If you’re willing to go for a very complex (and manually tedious) process, I can give you the recipe. But be warned that you’ll have to be very cautious when formatting your headings. You also need absolutely to be familiar with styles because the recipe needs the use of 2 list styles (the sequence counters, one of them being Chapter>Numbering), paragraph styles to duplicate (partially) the Heading n family. To add to the complexity, the sequence counters must be synchronised. This means you need to duplicate your chapter headings with shadow entries for the second counter.

Unless the document has a very high value for you or your readers, I discourage you from following this path.
