Problems with expernal hyperlinks to word documents (doc and docx)

Hello,

I want to report the following problem, using LO writer 6.4.2 and 7.0.3. Whenever I try to insert in a word .doc/.docx or even in an odt document some hyperlinks to external word .doc or .docx files (they reside on on same machine), I cannot get the hyperlinks work to the specific objects within the target documents, e.g. a table or an image. Clicking on the hyperlinks the destination file is always open at its beginning and not at the referenced points (objects).
The same links work well from an .odt to external .odt and from a .doc/.docx to another external .odt files.

Any suggestions?

.doc(x) internals are based on different principles than .odt. Jumping to a target internal to a document requires that the document format offers visible destination locations. This is perfectly mastered with ODF documents because the standard is open and public. Assuming the same “declarations” for remarkable locations are available in .doc(x), the way to reference them is private to Mico$oft and proprietary. The best has been done to provide as much compatibility as possible but don’t expect 100%.

Since you’re working with Writer, store all your documents in .odt.

If the .doc(x) format is required due to external constraints (e.g. remote recipients using M$ Word), send them also .odt as Word claims to be able to read ODF files.
