Creating a rule to add 2 cells together automatically

I am running a spreadsheet and I want to get 2 cells to automatically add together to give a total. I have 2 columns side by side and I want the column on the right to give me the total of the 2 cells to its left. I hope I have made sense.

If you want the added values in column C. Does this work…

=A1+B1

You can then drag that value down all the rows so every row does a similar calculation.

:slightly_smiling_face: ooo lovely demo. Much better than my words.

Many thanks for that it works a treat, I have also worked out the formular for subtraction too, if it is a negative amount I would like the figure coloured red how do I make it change the colour if a negative amount please?

Cheers
