How to enter user and password for WebDAV server?

I am trying to configure a NextCloud WebDAV remote location on LibreOffice Writer 7.0 following these instructions: Opening a Document Using WebDAV over HTTPS

I am using the snap package on Linux Mint.

Despite correctly enabling Use LibreOffice dialogs and introducing the host, port 443, check secure connection, label, and root, after clicking “Ok” I don’t get prompted for introducing my username and password, I don’t see a list of files, and in general it’s not clear what to do.

I also don’t understand why the instructions mention “Website Certified by an Unknown Authority”. I use a remote host that’s perfectly verified with Let’s Encrypt.

I tried to see if I could launch LibreOffice Writer with some sort of logging or debugging information, but https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/How_to_debug I don’t have that much patience to setup gdb, compile a debugging build and so forth.

You should be asked after having provided server data and clicked OK. That’s how it works on my system. If you don’t get the authentication dialog, your root (you did not mention, what you had used for root) might be wrong (Did you try with just using / (slash) as root?)

Hello,

just checked the link to the help you provided in your question an this is totally misleading (if not “wrong”). Please check this one: LibreOffice Help - Setting up a remote file service connection

Addition(s)

  • You could access the same setup while in any application by File -> Save Remote
  • There is no need to Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> General -> Option: [X] Use LibreOffice dialogs. Using File -> Open Remote is the proper replacement for the requirement to globally enable LibreOffice dialogs.

Hope that helps.

Right! This is how I solved it. Thanks a lot!
