Print using system dialog

I’m running MacOS Catalina and LibreOffice 7.

When I try to print a document, I’m shown a custom print dialog box instead of the standard one used by most MacOS apps. That means there’s no option to create a PDF, which what I’m trying to do.

How do I get a standard print dialog in LibreOffice? Or if that’s not possible, is there some other way to print to PDF?

PDFs are created by File > Export As > Export as PDF, in the resulting dialog you can set options for images, security, pdf type, etc. Once you are happy with your settings you can just click the Export directly as PDF icon on the toolbar for subsequent exports with the same settings.

To change back to Mac print dialog you will need to change a setting in Options which I believe is at LibreOffice - Preferences on your Mac main menu (not sure but possibly Alt+F12 in LO will also open it). Open the Options dialog and under LibreOffice > General untick the box that says “Use LibreOffice dialogue boxes”

I already have “Use LibreOffice dialogs” unchecked, so unfortunately that setting must not apply to the Print dialog. Export as PDF meets my current needs though so thank you for that.

Yes. You are right, the Print dialog does not change.

In the Print dialog you could select a PDF printer if you have one installed however the resulting pdf would not contain bookmarks, hyperlinks or other extras that Export would include.
