update document to style

I have a writer document and in parts of it the Text Body style is 12 point instead of 11 point as in the actual style. What I would like to do is update all the text body text which should be to the style Text Body without selecting all the thousands of examples which are not to that style (e.g. sometimes bold or wrong size). I have created a template from another document (happens to be another chapter of the book I’m writing) and set the template for the document I am trying to correct. nothing changes as there seems to be no ‘Apply Style to all areas of document for that style’. How do I get all ‘Text Body’ text to agree with the Style for Text Body just by a click?

Many thanks.

You have to get rid of all the direct formatting in the document. There are basically two ways to do that:

  1. Select all text and press Ctrl+M to remove all direct formatting from the selected text. Obviously, that will also remove italics and boldface and some other things that I can’t think of right now, but it’s fast.
  2. The more careful way is to use Find and Replace (Ctrl+H), press Format, set Size to 12 pt and either press Find all, close the dialog box and press Ctrl+M to remove the direct formatting, or do it piecemeal, using Find next, close the dialog box, pres Ctrl+M, and repeat until end of document, then repeat the same for all other direct formatting that you come across.
