(Feature Request) Libreoffice addon have cloud access

Hi
is it possible for Libreoffice addon to have cloud access within their server? (Languagetool Premium für Libreoffice? - German - LanguageTool Forum)

This question/request is off-topic here for 2 reasons:

  1. Your request is related to an extension and in general problems/issues with extensions should be addressed to developers of the respective extension (in general extensions are not developed by the same people developing LibreOffice).

  2. Your request is a “Feature/Enhancement request”, which is per se off-topic here. This site is about users of LibreOffice answering questions of users of LibreOffice. This site is not a way to address issues/problems/request to developers (which would be Bugzilla, if your request would be a valid request for LibreOffice).

The forum discussion clearly states, that the addon provided by language.org (and which obviously is the website of the organization providing the extension) doesn't support the cloud service (also mentioned here, https://languagetool.org/?force_language=true#plugins as *..Currently not available for the Premium version*).

Hi
as you can see from the external link I sent, the add-on developer attempt to address the issue and he said that there is a limitation within the Libreoffice for not allowed an extension to communicate to the cloud (Sorry, it is in German) and I will try to send a request to the Bugzilla. and I will try to send a request to the Bugzilla

Don’t do that - it’s not TDF’s extension but language.org’s extension

Please do **not** use *Add Answer* if you actually don't answer a question but commenting an answer or responding to another user’s comment. Please use ***add a comment*** for that purpose. Thanks in advance …

As far as I understand that forum communication (I used Google Translate):

Unfortunately, this is not possible, as the premium version depends on our cloud service and the LibreOffice add-on runs without cloud access.

… which does not say anything about LibreOffice limiting anything (and yes, there’s no limitation of extensions communicating to external servers), but about LT extension being implemented as standalone thing that does not depend on any cloud services (maybe because it is a free offering, and only “premium version” - likely paid - has that functionality). As a sample of an extension with Web access, see LibreOffice GetRest Plugin » Extensions.

@mikekaganski - see tdf#140406 and my comment to the request, which completely matches your view (but did not dare to mark as INVALID, since I’m not a developer)
