Why is there no Firebird option in LibreOffice 4.2 on Ubuntu?

Hi,

I have just installed LibreOffice 4.2 from the dedicated PPA on my Ubuntu 12.04 system.
I have enabled the advanced (experimental) features, but in the Base module there is still only the HSQLDB option.
No firebird DB in the drop down menu.

Any idea?

Thank you

Just for the record: should there have been a Firebird option? Or is this a feature request?

Hi @Vosaxalo, activating experimental features, is available in Win7x64 with LibreOffice 4.2.0.4.
Maybe it was dropped in Ubuntu PPA version.

There is more information about the state of Firebird integration in:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Base/FirebirdSQL
Default to Firebird not HSQLDB in Base

In addition to what @mariosv states, I can also confirm the option exists in the GNU/Linux build from the website. It is listed in the relase notes under Experimental Features.

Yes, Firebird integration was not considered stable enough for an LTS release. Also note that Firebird is still in universe and would be needed in main for this.

openSUSE 13.1 (Bottle) (x86_64) shows firebird available to install with libreoffice Version: 4.1.5.3-17.1
