LENOVO IDEAPAD Model 20210 not able to run LibreOffice

Error: not responding immediately at start up.
LENOVO IDEAPAD Model 20210.
x64-based PC
Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB
Microsoft Windows 10 Home
Version 20H2
OS build 19042.804
Intel(R) Core™ i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2501 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date LENOVO 71CN22WW(V1.05), 9/14/2012

I have tried installing as administrator on versions 6.4.7, 7.0.4, and 7.1.0 In all cases the program will not run.
I have LibreOffice running all OK with the same OS on a Toshiba Laptop, and a Dell Desktop.
I would love to have it working on my wife’s Lenovo, as she uses an out of date Windows Office. We are on a fixed income and can’t go with MS Office subscriptions.

This question is confusing: the title of you question is “LENOVO IDEAPAD Model 20210 not able to install LibreOffice” while from your description, I’d read "“LENOVO IDEAPAD Model 20210 not able to run LibreOffice” (LibreOffice gets installed but does not run). Could you clarify?

Please do **not** use *Add Answer* but **[edit](https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/lenovo-ideapad-model-20210-not-able-to-run-libreoffice/62094)** your original question to enhance the details (answers are reserved for solutions to a problem on this Q&A site). Thanks in advance …

Thank you for the advise and quick response!

I can’t tell if you cannot install LO or if it installed OK but it won’t run.

If you can’t install it then you need to change a setting in Windows. Click Start menu > Settings > Apps > Apps and features, under Choose where to get apps select in the drop down “Anywhere”. Cheers, Al

I assume from your slightly re-worded question that you have installed LibreOffice and it appears in the start menu but will not run from the entry in the start menu. Did you get any error messages when installing? Do you get any error messages when LO does not run? What anti-virus do you have?

Sorry about the confusion. Install had no errors. Running LO displayed a “not responding” error. I still run most everything from the desktop. Your comment led me to take a closer look at the Start Menu. I found that I could run LO using the Safe Mode option. After applying the Disable Hardware Acceleration selection in the configuration window, I was able to restart in normal mode. On one of my first attempts I had tried disabling my anti-virus software without any results. So I feel my problem has been resolved! Since the hardware on the Lenovo does not support hardware acceleration, there shouldn’t be any change in performance. I will put a cleaned up explanation in the Answer section unless recommended to do otherwise. Thank You Al for your time and patience. I have 40+ years in Pre-Press Printing Industry. But have very little experience in Forums. Enjoying LibreOffice for our home use.

It might be OK with just disabling OpenGl or Skia (depending on LO version) in Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View

Applying the Disable Hardware Acceleration selection in the Safe Mode configuration window.

Start Menu–> All Apps–> LibreOffice Folder–> LibreOffice (Safe Mode)

LibreOffice should open to the Safe Mode window.

Click the Configure radial button, and click/check Disable hardware acceleration (OpenGL,OpenCL, Vulkan) checkbox.

Click Apply Changes and Restart button at the bottom right of the window.

LibreOffice should open and operate as expected.

If you hardware supports hardware acceleration you may want to try other options, see previous comments. You can find out more about Safe Mode by clicking the Help button on the bottom left in the Safe Mode window.

If you could not resolve your problem by using safe mode, click on Advanced expander in the Safe Mode window. You will find instructions how to get further help there.
