Image "Read Error"

I am running LibreOffice 7.0.3.1 (x64) on Windows 10. I have searched the data base and am unable to find a solution that works for me. I do have the box checked at Tools>Options>LibreOffice Writer>View>Display>Images and Objects. Not all, but some of my .jpg files that I have inserted into the document give me a “Read Error” message and are not displayed. Any help greatly appreciated.

You embedded the images or you inserted 'em as Link?

I used Insert>Image, then inserted from files on my hard drive. The “Link” box was not checked.

I can see the image initially. I resize and compress it, save the document, and then at some later time, The image disappears and I get the “Read Error” message.

It was originally a word file copy/pasted into LibreOffice

It was originally an MS Word doc. I copy/pasted the entire document, pictures and all into LibreOffice Writer. Then continued to add content withing Writer.

The images seem to be stable within Safe Mode.

LibreOffice 7.1 don't work after windows update - which is a different issue but same test and probably one of the solutions given under Reason 1 or Reason 2 should work for you as well.

@Astur. That is correct. Images were added using Insert Image

@anon73440385 Thank you. I will look into it. The weird thing about this issue is that the images are initially ok, even after several days of going in and out of the document. Then at some point the images disappear, leaving me with the Read Error message. So it may take some time to determine if Safe Mode stabilizes the issue.
