Have tried uninstall on control panel, using uninstall troubleshooter. Get “error 1402 could not open key. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key.”

Please do not use (most of) the advises there. It suggests editing registry and using third-party “uninstallers”, which is known to make your installation database broken, and is the source of many problems reported here and elsewhere. The FAQ mentioned in a comment to the question lists the MS tool (also mentioned in the article as “Method 5”, after all previous steps already made inevitable havoc).
