LibreOffice hangs while trying to open a small XLS file

I have a small XLS file (18KB) that doesn’t even contain any calculations. This morning I opened it with LibreOffice 3.6 successfully. Then I updated to LibreOffice 4.2. Now when I open the file I pass the flash screen, get the usual Import Options dialog (the document is in Hebrew), but then the program freezes showing a blank white window. I tried to open other XLS files and some were opened successfully while others were not. The annoying thing is that I could open these files before the upgrade :frowning:

Could anyone help please?

Update: Just tried to open with LibreOffice 4.1 on Ubuntu and the files were opened without any problems. So the problem appears on Windows only.

@FireAphis - May I ask:
Do you observe the same with non-Hebrew files?
Which OS are you using?

Can you find out what the difference of the hebrew-xls files are?
Are they all created, modified and save using only MS EXCEL?
Are some created, modified, and saved in ods and xls using LibO?

Can you downgrade for a test to 4.1.5?

I am not sure whether it happens only with Hebrew files. I do manage to open some other Hebrew files though. It happens to me on Windows 7 with LO 4.2, while I do manage to open the same files on Ubuntu with LO 4.1.

Please try updating to 4.2.1 Index of /libreoffice/old/4.2.1.1/win/x86,
there is a bug with RTL languages in 4.2.0.4 fdo#72470 now resolved in the coming 4.2.1.

But be careful development versions can also have some additional bugs… So I suggest you to install 4.2.1 as mariosv suggested to test if problem disappears and then downgrade to 4.1.x until at least 4.2.1 final is released.
