Calc not allowing grouping

Group and Outline is not working in my existing or new spreadsheets. I can’t group anything, and groups that were there are gone. I’ve looked at the settings in Tools|Options and couldn’t see anything to suggest any control over this function.

Hello - you have a problem and are looking for help. That’s what this site is about, but please understand no one willing to help is able to provide a sound answer without some information about your environment. Thus please provide information related to:

  • Operating System (Windows, Linux, macOS) and its version?
  • LibreOffice version?
  • Did you already try to reset your user profile?
  • Did you try to start LibreOffice in Safe Mode?

**PS:** I got no problem in grouping rows or columns using openSUSE 15.2 using LibreOffice
Version: 7.0.5.2, Build ID: 64390860c6cd0aca4beafafcfd84613dd9dfb63a
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.3; UI render: GL; VCL: kf5
Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: de-DE, Calc: threaded

Thanks for your response. I don’t have this problem on my 3 other OpenSuse machines either, just this one.
Software /system in question as follows:

Version: 6.1.5.2
Build ID: 10(Build:2)
CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 4.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3_kde5;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded
OpenSUSE 42.3

User profile reset = NO. This isn’t going to happen if it removes any customizations. Does it?
Safe mode = NO.

I’ll answer my own secondary, off-topic question immediately above for people like me who have to mess with these settings once in a blue moon: Yes you can go into safe mode and LO gives you the option to temporarily disable plugins etc, and also temporarily reset your profile to test if these things will solve your issue. Then when you restart LO, whatever you reset or turned off will be back as it was. Incidentally, doing this had no effect on the group & outline issue. See below.

This issue actually was a setting. Tools, options, Libreoffice Calc, View. Make sure there’s a check in the “Outline Symbols” box.
