Changes to font style or size not saved in document

When I first create documents, whatever font styles or sizes I choose save. But from that moment on, when I reload the file, if I change my mind about either the style or the size and do so, it indeed does change but when I resave the file, the next time it reloads, my changes are apparently not saved, because it reverts back to the original font style and size. This has only just become a problem recently. I’ve been using Libre Office for years and have been loading, editing and resaving files for years and have never run into this problem until recently. Any ideas?

The version of LibreOffice I am using is 6.4.1.2 (x64).
