Just want to do it right. Is what I amended OK if I answer my own question in the future? Click the checkmark, put SOLVED at the top and the answer below it?
Accepting an answer is what is required to flag it: on the home page, answered questions show a count of answers. If one of them solves the problem, i.e. OP has accepted one (green check mark), the green check mark is also displayed on the home page, telling others there is a “good” solution.
What @Astur meant was to add [Solved] in the question title, so that it shows also on the home page. IMHO, since this site is not a forum and uses a specific engine, this is not necessary (see explanation above). You added “SOLVED” in the answer not in the question title. But as I said it does not matter as soon as an answer is accepted.
Answering one’s own question is a privilege granted when you have enough karma (to filter out spammers). Accepting one’s own answer is yet another privilege.
