I have a standard Writer file of 10 pages. I now would like to insert another Writer file at page 6. How can I do this best as the document to be inserted is fitted with header, footer and formatted with automatic line counting at the left margin when filled with text? I’m using LO 4.2.1.1.

I understand that you want to preserve the header, footer etc of the second document and you “standard Writer file” has no special formatting.
In this case I would copy the first 6 pages of the “standard Writer file” into the clipboard and paste the text as unformatted text (crtl+shift+v and select “unformatted”) at the beginning of the second Writer file.
The same I would do with the last 4 pages of the “standard Writer file” at the end of the second Writer file.
For safety reasons keep both files back up.

Maybe I have to add that the “standard Writer file” has some formatting such as TOC, different tables and different tab stops for some pages. And into this environment I want to place a Writer document with header, footer and line numbering enabled. Formatting of both documents have to be preserved in the newly created file.
