Can I draw a solid line in Libre Office?

First, let me thank everyone for the answer to my older question. I came to LibreOffice because Micro$oft want much de buco for “real Office”.

My new question is: Is there a way to draw or insert a straight solid line?

Thanks in advance!

Please, edit your question to tell the goal of this solid line. Mixing graphic objects (not related to text) with flowing text is usually a bad idea if you want the object and text to remain “synchronised”.

Your solid line may be a separator between paragraphs or part of a border. There are optimised solutions for this.

There is a button in the toolbar to insert a line. Note that holding the Shift key allows you to draw with defined angles (0°, 45°, 90°).

The most important after you’ve created a line is to define its anchoring. The most robust is As character IMHO. But the other options may work as well depending on what you’re trying to achieve.

Note that you can also insert a border to your paragraph (Borders tab).

For between paragraphs click Insert > Horizontal line. If the line style is not to your liking, open the Sidebar, click on the Style icon and in Paragraph Styles, right click on Horizontal line and select Modify. In the dialogue box that opens select the Borders tab, in Line Style select the solid line and, under Width, choose a point size and click Apply to see if it suits, if it does then click OK

To insert a drawing object line, click Insert > Shape > Line > Line. Use your mouse to draw the line, hold down Shift to constrain angle to 15 degree increments. With the line selected

  • Open the Sidebar, click on the
Properties icon and change the colour
    and width to something suitable.
  • Right-click on the line and select Anchor > To paragraph or one of the other options to suit.
