Can a base file be changed to a standalone base file

I ask this because a few time I have had a problem with base not being able to open the requested file. This is because the JRE became unticked to use with Ubuntu 11.0.11, or vice versa.
Does anyone why this happens.

Also just recently, there was a problem with my base file as per this message: “The connection to the data source “Name of Database” could not be established”. So where is the data source it can’t connect to. The said base file was then reduce from 3.6mb to 0 bytes. Luckily I had a backup, but that was a few days old and I had to re enter the last 4 days of data again.
When I googled the no connection problem I read somewhere that it was best to make the base file a standalone database. Is this possible>

How can I prevent this happening again

See Can a base file be changed to a standalone base file.
You won’t get a useful answer if you ask the same unclear question a second time.
Edit your previous question instead, and add the needed information there.
You wom’t find a better prepared user than @Ratslinger to answer a question in this field.

Ok thanks, yes I read @Ratslinger reply last night, but this morning it had disappeared , so edited my post and posted it again.
I’ll try to explain my question:
As I understand it, LO base connects to something somewhere, but I don’t know what or where, so logically to me that means the database file is in 2 parts. Those being the file that I can see, and the data which I or LO base couldn’t see when it gave me that error message.

i then googled the said message , and read somewhere that someone had suggested running or using the database file as a standalone database.
i apolagise if that is confusing, as I have no idea if that is correct or not.

I suppose what I am asking is what caused that error message to appear and why did my 3.5mb file become 0 bytes.
I cannot make it any clearer than that.

Thanks anyway

@Avvy65,

Please respond at original question and not here as you did. Also, the error message was caused by a problem on your system. The reason may possibly be determined only by knowing exactly what was happening at that time. Other information is in my answer of the original post.
