What version would be best for the occasional user on a laptop?

I’ve been using Office for years, however Microsoft has gone to an online tech support and I have tried all the recommendations to fix a problem without success and I pay for this annually!! I am still not able to send/receive from Outlook, so I have to access it thru Yahoo. I have been considering the change over for quite sometime now and I am ready to give it a go.
I have 1 older laptop, 1 new laptop and a netbook, would I use the same version on all 3 or would different versions work better on each of my devices?

Thank You

LibreOffice does not include an email client. I use Thunderbird (IMAP) but I have to have an add-on to synchronise my address books and one to synchronise my calendars.

You can install LibreOffice alongside Microsoft Office. There is also a portable version of LibreOffice that runs (in Windows) off a USB drive so is useful to try without installing

I would suggest to use the same version of LibreOffice, the stable version, on all three laptops but I don’t have a netbook so I don’t know if you can. Collabora office ( a contributor to LO) have a version for Android or for iOS.
