Heading formatting broken after update?

Hi! I’ve just updated from LO 5-point-something to 7.0.6.2. I do a lot of work using intricately formatted Writer documents, with lots of headings. So I got a nasty surprise when I opened an existing document, and found that the formatting was all messed up.

Heading 1, which is supposed to have 0.1" spacing underneath, now has about 1" spacing, knocking the rest of the formatting out of whack. And yet when I go to Format>Paragraph or Styles>Edit Style, it still claims to be at 0.1" spacing.

This particular document has a deadline coming up, so I’m hoping there’s an easy fix!

I would definitely report that as a bug.

Furthermore, I would update to a newer LibreOffice version (7.1.4).

… and test with 7.1; and if it isn’t fixed there, and in hurry, install 5.x to finish your work.

Have you applied some direct formatting over your Heading 1? Select your "faulty heading and Ctrl+M. Does it fix the issue?

With sophisticated documents, work exclusively with styles, all sorts of styles: paragraph, character, page, frame and list. Tolerate direct formatting only for exceptional cases, like very specific not-routine page breaks or reset list numbering. All the rest should be done with styles. This is the only method to guarantee consistent, predictable and reliable formatting and layout.
