Can a large bullet span mutiple lines in Writer?

I have been using LibreOffice’s bulleting options which I have found to be extremely powerful. But one thing that I am having trouble doing is setting the bullet to appear like a drop-cap i.e. if the bullet is tall enough to span multiple lines, I would like the next line to appear next to the bullet rather than underneath it. So far I’ve found that increasing the size of the bullet just pushes the next line further and further down the page.

Is this possible?

Short answer: I doubt it. Drop caps and unordered list symbols are treated differently, typographically. The former is line-based and the latter is a floating element. You could always use a table to keep the larger unordered list symbol adjacent to the text.

What about images or frames? They both have similar options can bullet symbols be added in such a way that they are ‘anchored’ to a line but have the text “wrap” around them? I’m not keen on using a table.

You can certainly use an image/frame to produce a bullet effect (as per drop capitals) however this would be as a standard graphic, rather than via the list (text) feature.
