I would like to use LibreOffice Impress to modify and present a PowerPoint file (.ppt). When transitioning from one slide to the next, I always see a bright flash just before the next slide is displayed. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem.

I am using LibreOffice in Ubuntu 13.10 on my Samsung NC10 netbook.

I suppose you have large images which cover whole screen. What happens if you use black background? That would still mean flickering but flicking through black probably hurts no one.

Also what might help is using some kind of subtle slide transition which maybe would force the slide to be prerendered. I cannot try this myself because I don't have a netbook, on faster processor Impress is too snappy to notice such things.
