I need to use the font Cardo and am not sure if it will be an available font on Libre. Will I be able to import it?

You can use whatever fonts are installed on your system.

It is also possible (from LibreOffice 4.1, I believe, but certainly available in 4.2 current release) to embed fonts in the document:

  1. Go to File > Properties > Font (tab), then
  2. Click in [✓] Embed fonts in the document.

If this doesn't quite answer your question, then do update with the version of LibO, and the operating system and version you're using.
