Headings won't appear in table of contents - evaluation level set correctly

In Writer, I’ve got headings which go four levels deep, but only the first three levels show in the table of contents. The evaluation level is set to 4 - before it was set to 10 - but it still doesn’t work. I tried setting the evaluation level to 2 and then back to 4. I tried creating a new table of contents.

Any suggestions?

Using version 4.2.2.1.

I was not able to reproduce your problem on my 4.2.3 Ubuntu 12.04 system. I could turn the entries on and off up to level 10, but I was using the default Heading1-10 paragraph entries.

Are you using the predefined headings (for example Heading 1 -10) paragraph styles for entries into your TOC. Or have you defined your own styles? The TOOLS > OUTLINE NUMBERING will give the base default setting in the INDEX/TABLE menu. Additional entries can be selected by using the ADDITIONAL STYLES option.

Sorry not to be able to help you further.

It might help to mention I created the TOC in Word and ported it over to LO. At that time it only had 3 heading levels, I created the 4th in LO.

I did end up using Additional Styles in the end, but am not sure why the fourth level wouldn’t be outlined.

If you added an extra heading level you would need to update the index before those headings will show. Adjusting the heading levels up and down will only have an effect when the heading have already been indexed, you are adjusting the display of indexed entries. Adding Additional styles will update the index.
