I want to add the contents of several cells into an empty cell. I used to enter an = sign in the the cell and simply click on the cells I wanted to add with Excel. Not so easy now.
Do you want to total numbers or text?
- Numbers: use =sum() or simply = … + … + …
- other input: = … &" "& …
where & combines the content of two cells and " " puts a space in between.

You still can. simply type =sum( and then click the cells you wish to total using CTRL to select individual cells or SHIFT for cell ranges
