I have just downloaded Ubuntu 14.04 and the writer works fine, however, the "tool" button is missing or hidden. Without it I can not change the load and saved options nor check for and obtain udates. Please advise how to proceed. Thankyou

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 and I have a Tools menu in Libreoffice but when I click on Options I go into a black hole and my only option is to right click on Libreoffice and Quit. No way to modify options.

I am using Ubuntu 14.04 and the Tools menu (as well as Tool > Options) is where it always was. Are you refering to a different button?

It's hiding. First maximize the document and then put you cursor on the top bar where the document title is at and the menu options will appear.
