How to link chapter document style to master document style?

My writer setup is a master document with documents for each chapter.

Usually when I open a chapter document, I get the “template on which this document is based, has been modified” message asking to update the style from the master document.

After I modified a few styles in a chapter document, Writer stopped asking for the style update from the master document for that chapter! Did the style link between master document and chapter document break?

How do I change it back so that Writer again asks me to update the style each time I open the chapter file?

Edit: Styles can be loaded manually through the Styles and Formatting box, but I need an automatic solution like before.

I changed the master document and it works as you said. It was confusing because I had edited saved chapters recently and others a long time ago. The master document is the template, I don’t have a separate template. Can I create one and assign it to the master document?

I don’t think so. You might want to search for that and otherwise, ask the forum about it.

I think the message means that the template (found through the template manager or if you have an OTT file) was edited, not the master document. Once you select Yes or No, LO remembers the choice unless the Template is once again edited. The Styles in the Master Document are independent of the styles in the chapter documents. Don’t confuse this with the message to update the links when you open a master documents.
