I use LO Writer 4.1.3.2 with Linux Mint 16. In a book I am working on, LO automatically formats the footnotes in a style called TextFormatVorlage, and I have to reformat them manually in Footnote style. There is no TextFormatVorlage style in the list of “all styles,” and search and replace can’t find it. Does anyone know where it comes from and how to get rid of it?

That's an odd one -- and, it seems an old one. It's mentioned explicitly in one bug report (fdo#44699 - closed) and in passing in another (fdo#45790). I don't know where it comes from (where did your document come from) - I wonder if it is left over somehow from StarWriter???

I don't know how to get rid of it showing up in the first place, but if it is in your document, there are three ways (at least) to expedite getting rid of it:

(1) It looks like one previous victim resorted to using ".fodt" format to do a global search/replace with a "proper" style in a text editor. I just tried that, and it looks like it could/should work.

(2) In LibO Writer 4.2.4.2 you can search and replace on paragraph styles "natively":

parastyles

I don't know if that's available in your version of LibO, but perhaps worth upgrading if not?

(3) You should also be able to use the Alternative Find & Replace extension that is mentioned quite often on this site:

AltSearch

In this case, though, it should be possible with #1 or #2 without needing to resort to the extension.

Meanwhile, it would be good if the mystery about where it has come from in the first place could be solved. Not something I've ever seen before! (Also a Mint user, btw - fwiw!)
