How can I make Writer perform better when inserting an SVG image?

If I insert an SVG image in a document Writer becomes very sluggish to the point where it is not really useable. Is there anything I could do to increase performance? Another vector format maybe? I prefer not to use a bitmap format.

I am using LibreOffice 4.2.2.1 on a mac.

What application has created that svg image?

Please, try a current developer build (“daily”), There had been a fix for bad performance for special svg images in Apache OpenOffice https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=124313, which was integrated in LibreOffice 28.March.
