I'm running the most recent release of LibreOffice Version: 4.3.1.2 Build ID: 958349dc3b25111dbca392fbc281a05559ef6848 on Mac OS 10.6.8, but attempting to save any Calc file in .xls or .xlsx format causes the application to crash - every time. I can save a file in .ods, but any attempt to save as .xls or .xlsx format (which is necessary to exchange files with Excel users) causes Libre Office to crash.

I've done the delete-the-user-prep folder. But that didn't help.

I've been searching your help system, but haven't found any other solutions. Is this a known bug? Is there any solution?

The console log for the crash follows:

Process: soffice [961] Path: /Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice Identifier: org.libreoffice.script Version: 4.3.1002 (???) Code Type: X86 (Native) Parent Process: launchd [141]

@dennis.monbarren - I am sorry to read about the troubles you have. I made a test on MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.8 and LibO 4.2.6.2 and had no problem saving in xls and xlsx form. Maybe a downgrade to 4.2.6.2 would be a possible solution for you.

As you have a lot of information collected, I like to suggest that you create a bug report here: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/...

Reporting thereafter the bug number here would enable others to comment on the bug.
