Font embedding works unreliably?

On Windows7 we had a writer document template (both .odt and .ott), which included the Windows font ‘segoe ui light’. To use this template on Ubuntu, I tried to enable font embedding in the document, and it grew from 400k to 8.8M. I looked into the Zip-Contents and lo! there were fonts embedded. There even were fonts embedded, that really were missing on my Ubuntu, like ‘segoe ui’. But the font ‘segoe ui light’ was missing. i.e. not all used fonts were embedded.

My Question: Is this a Bug or
Couldn’t the font be embedded due to some mysterical DRM information in the .ttf? If so: LO should warn about this.

Which LibO version are you using?

The windows-version which didn’t include the font was 4.2 or 4.3.something. I am not sure. I will come back and answer that, as soon as I know.

Bug fdo#83675 has been reported for this behaviour, however there are several different aspects, relating to what should be embedded and when.
