I just upgraded to the latest version (4.3 something) , the space and paragraph non printing characters have changed to barely visible light blue and I can’t change them back to black via the “tools options colors” or “appearance” menus.
I’m afraid you can not change the color it is hard coded. It was changed from black to blue in one of the last versions.
