What is the best way to set up a word doc to write a book?

I want to write a book and I want to make sure everything is formatted correctly.

Is there a template? Is there an tutorials?

First I recommend to have a look at the free guides which you can download from http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/

Second - Read and understand - make tests - how to use a Master Document. Such a Master Document allows you to have all Styles&Formatting in one place.

Third - Read and understand - also make tests - how to use Styles&Formatting. Various way to open it are possible; F11 works always or use the Sidebar. Styles&Formatting is a very powerful feature and allows you - if needed - in the very last minute to make changes to the styles, which are then applied throughout your book. Avoid direct formation to the extreme possible.

Fifth- Tutorials. Just search the web for key words like “tutorials Libreoffice book writing” or similar.

Sixth - Create a test book with about 5-10 page (text could be Lorem Ipsum generator in the web) where you have all elements (title page, table of contents, expression of gratitude to people who supported your work, footnotes or endnotes, footers, headers, page numbers, etc) including also the Master Document with sub documents.
Create a copy and delete all unneeded text and start writing your book.
