I'm working at firm that have an internal site with docs, presentations, etc… For I am trying to open some «pptx», or even plain «doc» format, I see mostly a punctuation symbols, a text is invisible. I figured out that the problem is that there was used some font, that I am missing → and indeed, if I select a word and change a font, it is shown correctly…

So, is there some option to substitute a font if it is missing?

OS: Kubuntu

(I don't use it myself, but ...)

There is a replacement table under > 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'LibreOffice' > 'Fonts' . You can activate it by checking 'Apply replacement table' and then define replacements. You will have to know the names of the original fonts needing replacement.

Please tell us if it works for you as you expected.

You can type in the dropdown box without knowing the name completely.

Yeah, that worked! Thank you very much! Also I add that before I wrote this question I asked it on IRC #libreoffice, and I later got an answer that in short a font should've been substitued by system. Also the user vilpan tested an example of a problem document (also at some kind of GNU/Linux), and it worked for them, so probably my system fonts just somehow screwed up.

I also think a working font substition will be part of any OS nowadays, and surley also of Kubuntu. Nonetheles some setting there might be in conflict with your LibreOffice installation. Instead of reinstalling everything a "patch" might be preferred.
