disappearing text writer [closed]

LO 4.3.0.4, PCLinuxOS 64bit KDE completely updated.

i've had this problem for several months now where the text partially appears on each page. If i click in the header, the visible part will appear but when i scroll down some of the new text will not be visible. Then i can click in the footer, and it will appear.

i tried the suggestion to "play" with some of the settings under Tools, Options, View, but to no avail. This is pretty frustrating.
