I need to create a document that has mainly A4 portrait pages but also a few A3 landscape pages.

How do I acheive this? everything I've tried so far applies the same page size and orientation to all slides.

You need to add a 2nd master page into your presentation and format it A3.

  • Open your presentation
  • View Menu > Master Slide > right click on the existing master slide > +New Master
  • Keep new master selected
  • Format Menu > Page > top left select A3.

Depending on the slide size you need, select one of the two masters.

.

Just a thought. Did you consider to use Draw rather than Impress?

I did try that but it seems to change all pages not just the selected page??

I am using impress as I am working on existing documents prepared by a colleague in powerpoint.
