Very strange issues when working with ms word docs (doc and docx)

I am in a situation where I need to take MS Word documents in either .docx format or .doc that’s converted
(on the MS end) from .docx, review them on my Mac, adding comments as needed, and them return the file
in either format.

The first problem I’m running into is the page count. I get paid per page, and it seems to be changing from
the original. This can’t happen, but it is. How can I stop this from happening?

Second, in the comments I add, spaces I type are replaced by little boxes, and blank lines are replaced by
paragraph symbols, rendering the comments nearly unreadable.

The third and, at least for now, final issue is with saving docx and sending it back to the MS side. When they
try and open it, they get an error saying:

The file [filename.docx] cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents.

No attribute name may appear more than once in the same start tag or empty element tag.

Does anyone even know what this means? And if so, how I can fix it?

Thanks,
–jim

Please inform on your LibO and Mac OS version. This is needed to simulate what you experience.

Mac OS X Lion, and LibreOffice 4.2.8 (just installed today).

please, this issue was resolved ?

The content.xml file is corrupted - an attribute tag is repeated. Search the forum with saxparse for information.

Normally you have some stuff here .

You have some stuff here or some stuff here

There will always be trouble swapping between .doc/.docx and .odt . There will be even more trouble if you save as .doc or even worse, save as .docx.
